of Incident: |
Daniel Woods of Shock N Awe was removed from the game after taking a Crosschecking penalty and verbally abusing the Referee. It is not directly related, but earlier in the game he also received a Double Minor for Highsticking.

This is the second time in as many games that Mr. Woods was removed from a game (see Displinary Report Dec. 14th). As a result, warning was issued which compounds the concerns of this hearing.

#37 received a game misconduct with approximately 12 minutes left in the third period. The player yelled several unsportsmanlike remarks at myself after receiving a minor penalty including but not limited to “fucking clown, fucking goof and fucking weak” the player continued his tirade by attempting to return to the opposing teams beach and had the be escorted to the dressing room by a player from each team.

From what I understand, we haven’t had a powerplay in 2 games. There are multiple infractions against us that we play through and there is no call. Guys are fed up… it was a chippy game this week, unfortunately Dan took a few shots from cowboys players, started questioning the ref- cowboys had 4 powerplays, I myself have a lump on my forearm from a slash and I yelled at the ref too.
The ref warned Dan.. I think at that point he was done… ref gave us another penalty to get a rise out of woods, very obvious. The chirps from the cowboys bench didn’t help either.
1 game Suspension is fine but no way should be multiple games…. Nothing substantial took place. Everything he said to the ref was normal cliche hockey BS.

I don't like suspending players. It goes against my objective to have players playing hockey, but by the same objective it is sometimes necessary to give players time off to think about their actions, particularly when their actions take other players out of the game.
Daniel Woods was issued a warning prior to this incident. To ignore a warning without any consequence makes any future warning ineffective.
I recommend that Daniel Woods be issued a 1 games suspension on top of the 1 game suspension (already served) for disregarding the warning. (Total 2 game suspension) As well a second warning should be issued that states any further such actions will result in a lengthy suspension or possible ejection from the league.

Two game suspension with a strict warning that should any more serious infractions ocur, such as, but not limited to; Major Penalties or removal from the game, Daniel Woods shall receive a lengthy suspension with a strong possibility of being ejected from the RIHL.
